The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) entered into an agreement with Maruti Suzuki to provide high employment potential trades related to automobile and manufacturing industry to youth under the Skill India Mission. In the presence of Mr Anant Kumar Hegde, the Minister of State for Skill Development Entrepreneurship the Directorate General of Training (DGT) and Maruti Suzuki India Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Mr Vijay Kumar Dev Director General, DGT (MSDE) on behalf of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Mr Mukesh Kumar Gupta, Vice President (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) signed the MoU.

Mr Anant Kumar Hegde stated that over the last two years Maruti has been providing primary level training. After signing the MoU, Maruti will not only provide basic training but will also provide an advanced level of training to interested students. As per the agreement, Maruti Suzuki in collaboration with DGT will design training modules as per the requirement of the automobile industry. At present, the training program is for students of the 10th pass and 12th pass outs. The courses will be conducted across locations in the country. The services will be available at ITIs, regional training centres and training partners associated with Maruti Suzuki. The courses will be approved by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and the candidates will receive a certificate after completing the training. The successful candidates will be eligible for employment in Maruti Suzuki after fulfilling the selection criteria of the company.
This agreement will benefit the youth in more ways than one. They will get an opportunity to acquire new skills related to the automobile industry via “learn and earn” approach. The training will be a mixture of theoretical and practical sessions. The candidates will be trained on the components thereby improving their employability potential. Simultaneously the agreement will help create a pool of skilled resources which will contribute to the growth of the automobile industry.
