Shri Manoj Sinha the Minister of Communications launched Digital Advancement of Rural Post Office for A New India (DARPAN) project on 21st December 2017.
The project was launched to improve the quality of service, add value to services and achieve ‘financial inclusion’ of the unbanked rural population. The total cost of the project is 1400 crores. The project was launched to provide a low power technology solution to each Branch Postmaster (BPM). The aim of this low power technology solution is to enable more than 1.2 lakhs Branch Post offices (BOs) of the country to improve their level of services being offered to rural customers. Mr Sinha stated that around 43,171Branch Post Offices have migrated under the DARPAN project.
Manoj Sinha was born on 1st July 1959 in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Manoj Sinha belongs to the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). Mr Sinha represents Ghazipur in the 16th Lok Sabha. Apart from the 16th Lok Sabha Mr Sinha was also the Member of Parliament (MP) in the 11th and the 13th Lok Sabha. Each time he represented Ghazipur in the lower house (Lok Sabha) of the Parliament. Manoj Sinha is the Minister of State Ministry of Railways. He assumed office on 26th May 2014 under Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi. He is also serving as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Communications in the Narendra Modi Government. He assumed office on 5th July 2016. Mr Sinha received his Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) and Master of Technology (M-Tech) in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi(earlier known as IT-BHU).

DARPAN project aims to increase the rural reach of the Department of posts. The project aims to have a wider reach to the population of India through customer interaction channel and to provide better customer service to the nation.
