The 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting 2018 was held at Taj Diplomatic Enclave, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, India from 10th April 2018 to 12th April 2018.
The event was organized with the support of People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Korea as co-hosts. 50 energy ministers, 30 CEOs, 12 heads of international organizations and more than 500 guests attended the 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting (IEF16) held in New Delhi, India. “The Future of Global Energy Security – Transition, Technology, Trade and Investment” was the theme of the 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting (IEF16). With the largest gathering of energy ministers in the world, the International Energy Forum (IEF) provides the opportunity to the participants to discuss relevant issues affecting global energy markets.
The International Energy Forum (IEF) is a non-profit organization with 72 member countries. The main purpose of this international organization is to increase mutual understanding and awareness of energy interests among its members. An inter-governmental organization, the International Energy Forum (IEF) was established in 1991. The International Energy Forum (IEF) consists of the IEF Charter which outlines the framework of the global energy dialogue. The International Energy Forum (IEF) acts as a facilitator of open global energy dialogue amongst its member countries. Under the International Energy Forum (IEF) charter, the member countries of this international organization cooperate with each other to ensure global energy security. Apart from India, Mexico, Russia, South Africa the member countries of International Energy Forum (IEF) also includes IEA and OPEC countries.
The headquarters of the International Energy Forum (IEF) is at the Diplomatic Quarter of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The International Energy Forum (IEF) is a secretariat organization. The Secretary-General leads the forum. Appointed on 1st August 2016, Dr Sun Xiansheng from China is the current secretary general of the organization.
