Smart Freight Operation Optimization & Real Time Information (SFOORTI) app was launched by the Ministry of Railways to track both passenger and freight trains over Zones/Divisions/Sections. This is a major digital initiative by the Ministry of Railways which will help plan the traffic flows and optimize freight operations. The app will help the freight managers monitor and manage the freight business using the feature of Geographic Information System (GIS) and dashboards.
The features of SFOORTI app are as follows:

? Movement of freight trains can be tracked on Geographic Information System (GIS)
? In a single GIS view, passenger trains can be tracked over Zones/Divisions/Sections
? Efficient analysis of Zonal/Divisional traffic
? Providing end to end rake movement on Geospatial View
? Traffic routing for sections, zones and divisions
? Monitoring of all the freight assets in a single window
? Daily performance of traffic at interchange points can be viewed
? Performance monitoring of each zone and division with respect to loading and utilization of freight assets
The Ministry of Railways under the Government of India is responsible for rail transport in the country.
