An Indian nationalist organization known by the name Paris Indian Society was founded in Paris in the year 1905 by Madam Bhikaji Rustom Cama, B. H. Godrej and S.R. Rana. The Indian Home Rule Society founded by Shyamji Krishna Varma in London in 1905 was a branch of this society. The Indian nationalists such as M.P.T. Acharya, Lala Har Dayal, Virendranath Chattopadhyaya, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar associated with the India House actively participated in the Paris Indian Society. Other prominent Indian nationalists associated with Paris Indian Society were P.O. Mehta, H.M. Shah, P C. Varma. Under the leadership of Madam Bhikaji Rustom Cama (popularly known as Madam Cama), the society developed healthy relations with the Russian socialists in exile in Paris as well as the Socialist Party (a Social - Democratic Party in France).

Madam Bhikaji Rustom Cama one of the most prominent figures of the Indian freedom struggle was born on 24th September 1861 in Bombay, British India to Sorabji Framji Patel and Jaijbai Sorabji Patel. Bhikaji Rustom Cama was also part of the Indian National Congress. Bhikaji Rustom Cama passed away at the age of 74 on 13th August 1936 in Bombay, British India
