Australia is the almost one-fifth of the largest Continent Asia. Australia Continent is also considered as the largest island which is surrounded by the ocean. The land area of Australia is the flattest, oldest, driest, and lowest in the whole world but with a stable geological past. As Australia is very dry, so ‘Lake Eyre’s’ holds the lowest point of Australia which is 49 feet’s below the sea level. Whereas, the highest point in the Australian Continent is ‘Puncak Jaya’ which is at Mount Wilhelm in Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea is the only place in Australia having active Volcanoes and is also prone to Tsunami and Earthquake.
Australia is the only continent having a single Country. From the point of the country, Australia is the 6th largest Country in total area. It lies on the Indo-Australian Plate. The Australian Continent is surrounded by the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. Australia had a rich bio-diversity but is the least populated continent. Australia is also the home for the world’s largest Coral Reef, The Great Barrier Reef, which covers about 2000 Km of the area in North-East Coast of Australia.
In all the seven continents, Australia is the second smallest Continent. But as there is no-life in Antarctica, so Antarctica is excluded from the list and Australia is considered as the smallest continent which is apt for living beings as well. Australia is the single largest continent-cum-country which lies completely in the Southern Hemisphere, whereas, more than half of the world’s country is in the Northern Hemisphere. Australia holds the 0.50% of the population of the World’s Population.
