‘Prof. Narendra Mohan’ is the Director of National Sugar Institute and it is a government organization. The institute works over as a Research, Training, and Advisory Institute of the sugar and other supporting industries. It works under the Department of Food and Public Distribution of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, as well as Food and Public Distribution.
The institute also provides training, research, and technical education in various branches of Sugar Chemistry, Sugar Technology, and Sugar Engineering. The National Sugar Institute does research work originally and the development of technology. The institute even provides training for students to make them efficient, scientists, and quality engineer. In the education field Institute also awards Certificates, as well as Master and Doctoral degree in different branches of science and technology. The need for a Central Sugar Research Institute was made in demand by the Royal Commission in Agriculture in 1928 and the Tariff Board in 1930. So, the Government of India then established the Imperial Institute of Sugar Technology after taking over the Sugar Section of the Hardcore Butler Technological Institute (HBTI), Kanpur. But after the Independence of India, the Institute’s name has been changed to National Sugar Institute in April 1957. The National Sugar Institute has a huge and fully Air Conditioned library which is filled with the largest collection of Sugar Literature in India and in the World too.
