The 103rd edition of Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) was conducted in the city of Mysore at Karnataka. The event was inaugurated by Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India on January 3, 2016.

The Indian Science Congress Association was first started in the year 1914, having its headquarter in Kolkata, West Bengal. The association has a membership of about 30,000 scientists. The main objective of the establishment of the association was to improve and promote the causes of Science in India. This association meeting is organized annually since 1914, at a suitable place in India.
The theme of the 103rd Indian Science Congress Association was, “Science and Technology for indigenous Development in India”. It was the five-day event which started on January 3rd and concluded on January 7, 2016. About 100 talented scientists took part in the association and represented their research work and research papers. They all talk on different subjects like Nano Science, Space Science, Technology & its Applications, Atomic Energy, Evolution: The Frontiers, Diabetes, Safe Water, and Sanitation, Public-Private Partnership for the Swachh Bharat Mission, and Diseases, and Drug Development.
The General President for the Indian Science Congress Association of 2016, was Ashok Kumar Saxena. Vijubhai Rudabhai Vala, the Governor of Karnataka, Siddaramiah, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, and the other honorable personalities from the Central Government and the State Government has also participated in the inaugural session of the association.
During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister presented 28 awards as well, which includes, 6 Gold Medals to Nobel Laureates, ISCA Best Oral Presenter, ISCA Best Poster, ISCA Young Scientists, C V Raman Birth Centenary Award at the event, which was organized at the University of Mysore, Karnataka.
The Key Speakers of the event were Noble Laureates Arthur B McDonald from the U.S.A., Dan Schetman from Israel, John Gurdan from U.K., David J Gross from the U.S.A., Serge Haroche from France, and Manjul Bhargava from India the Fields Medalist Mathematician.
