The scheme launched by the Union Government for Online Booking of LPG Cylinder is “Sahaj Scheme”. The scheme was launched on January 25, 2016.

Which scheme was launched by the Union Government for online booking of LPG cylinders?
The online booking of Cylinder can be done through the unified web portal www.mylpg.in. The website is available in 13 different languages. The scheme and online portal were officially launched by the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas “Dharmendra Pradhan”. With this scheme, the government has targeted to increase the number of connections to add up about 10 crore new connections. Hence, by the end of December 2018, it was expected to become the total count of connections to 16.5 Crore.
With this new facility, people can apply for the new LPG Connection through online by visiting the website and for this, they don’t need to visit the LPG Distribution center. Due to this facility, the person can apply for the connection at any time regardless of the working time of the distribution center. A person can make payment for this by both modes i.e. online and offline means.
The facility of an online application or offline application even helps the new applicant to pay for the connection through EMI basis. The EMI can be made of a maximum of 24 installments. The scheme also provides financial help of Rs. 1.600/- for each LPG connection and this help is facilitated for BPL households. These BPL houses are identified with the help of the State Government and the Union Territories.
Under this scheme, the government is also eying over installing the touch screen devices at public places like Railway Stations, Airports, etc. to help people to book for their LPG refills. As well as, in January 2016, the Union Government declared the year as the “Year of the Consumers”.
