The International Olympic Committee (IOC) added five new sports for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The five new sports that are added are Baseball/Softball, Karate, Skateboarding, Sports Climbing and Surfing. These games were proposed by the Organizing committee of 2020 Tokyo Olympics. There will be a total of 18 events comprising the five new games. 474 athletes including male and female athletes are expected to participate in these 18 events. As per the Organizing Committee of 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the proposed events are described below

Formed 124 years ago on 23rd June 1894, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is a non-governmental organization which is responsible for the modern Olympic Games. Pierre de Coubertin (father of the modern Olympic Games) from France founded the IOC. Demetrios Vikelas from Greece was the first president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The headquarters of the organization is in Lausanne, Switzerland. The active members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are 105. Apart from this, there are 32honorary members and 2honour members,Senegal and United States. The official language is English. The first Olympic Games were held in Athens, Greece in 1896.
Jacques Rogge from Belgium is the Honorary President. Thomas Bach from Germany is the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Apart from the president, there are four Co-Presidents. The Co-Presidents are Yu Zaiqing from China, Juan Antonio Samaranch, Jr. from Spain, Ugur Erdener from Turkey and Anita DeFrantz from the United States. Christopher De Kepper from Belgium is the Director General of International Olympic Committee (IOC).
