Isolation from social networking depends upon profession and outlook in life.
For short-term goals like admission in IIT JEE/ MAT or any other important stuff, it is essential. Once you get admitted, it is very essential for maintenance of relations and professional advancement.

Is isolating yourself from social networking helps?

Keep a boundary in social relations. You must be pro-social always and should be able to make a temporary halt to achieve mastery in something. Mastery in your field propels you further in social strata, and become easier in handling people.

So first you concentrate on your field and advance so much, then social networks will add to you, only thing is to keep a pro-social attitude. Take initiative, speak up, try to mutual growth. Periods of social activity and inactivity is like seasons, and remember that it is human.

If it is not possible, like introverts, they can achieve mastery in their fields while maintaining strong bonds with parents, siblings, and spouses. This is also a type of social bonding. Lastly, many introverts are responsible for great scientific achievements like Albert Einstein, Issac Newton, Bill Gates. They are masters in their field, social networking is the outcome of their mastery.
