The age for participating in Lok Sabha polls is 25 years or older, among many other conditions that a person has to be an Indian citizen or otherwise not eligible by Parliamentary legislation.

The Lok Sabha, sometimes known as the Chamber of the People, is the legislature of India's bicameral Parliament, with the Rajya Sabha serving as the upper house. Representatives of the Lok Sabha are selected to lead their districts by mature democratic elections and a first-past-the-post method, and they serve for 5 years or until the institution is abolished by the President at the suggestion of the ministers. The Lok Sabha Chambers of the Sansad Bhavan in New Delhi are where the chamber votes.

The Constitution of India allows for a total of 550 members in the House. The main house has 543 members, which are filled by the voting of up to 543 voting representatives. Between 1952 and 2020, the Indian government selected two extra persons of the Anglo-Indian population at the suggestion of the Indian government, which was eliminated in January 2020 by the 104th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2019. The Lok Sabha has a seating capacity of 550 persons.

An average of 131 vacancies are designated for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes MPs. The House has a majority of 10% of its total populace. Unless abolished earlier, the Lok Sabha needs to exist for 5 years from the date of its first session. However, while an urgent declaration is in effect, Parliament may expand this term by legislation or order.

The Boundary Delimitation Commission of India redraws Lok Sabha district lines every decade focusing on the Indian population, the most recent of which was performed in 2011. This activity previously included the transfer of chairs among nations focused on the demographic modifications, but that clause of the commission's requirement was dissolved in 1976 following an amendment to the constitution to encourage the then-current family planning. The 17th Lok Sabha, the most recent to date, was voted in May 2019. The Lok Sabha has its tv network, Lok Sabha TV, which is based in Parliament.
