Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri represented the Allahabad constituency.

Lal Bahadur Shastri was an Indian statesman and the second national Prime Minister. He backed the Amul milk collective in Anand, Gujarat, and founded the Countrywide Dairy Development Board to help with the White Revolution, a nationwide effort to boost milk consumption and delivery. Shastri championed the Green Revolution in India in 1965, highlighting the need to increase India's food production. Foodgrain output increased as a result, particularly in Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

On October 2, 1904, Shastri was born in Mughalsarai to Sharada Prasad Srivastava and Ramdulari Devi. Prior to entering the non-cooperation action, he attended East Central Railway Inter College and Harish Chandra High School. He dropped his caste-derived surname of 'Srivastava' and fought in Muzaffarpur for the Harijans' betterment. Shastri's philosophy was influenced by learning about Swami Vivekananda, Gandhi, and Annie Besant. In the 1920s, after being deeply impressed and motivated by Gandhi, he became involved in the movement for independence in India. He was the president of Lala Lajpat Rai's Servants of the People Society and served in the Indian National Congress in several capacities. After the Independence of India in 1947, he joined Prime Minister Nehru's government, first as Railways Minister and then as Home Minister, among other prominent positions.
