Talimeren Ao was India’s first Football captain and he was given the captaincy armband for the national team in the year 1948. He was the captain of the Indian football team in the summer Olympics which were held in the year 1948 a year after India got freedom from the British rule.
Born on 28 January 1918 in Assam to Subongwati Ningdangri Ao and his wife Maongsangla Changkilari. Talimeren Ao joined the Mohun Bagan which was the Calcutta Football league and captained the Green and Maroon in the year 1948 and 1949.
Talimeren was a striker in the Maharana Club but as after he joined the Maharana club of Guwahati he was assigned to the defense position. Talimeren Ao was the center half along with two backs and they were popularly known as the Great Wall of China as they were the best in defense.
