Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station is located in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra.
It’s a coal-based power plant of MAHAGENCO the coal is been sourced from outskirts of Durgapur and Padmapur Collieries of Western Coalfields Limited.  Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi officially inaugurated this power plant on 8 October 1984.

The Chandrapur Super Thermal Power Station has the total capacity of 3340 MW and it is the largest power plant of Maharashtra and fulfils around 25-30 % needs of whole Maharashtra solely. The water supply of this plant is been done from Erai Dam in general conditions and if there is a shortage of water in the Erai Dam then plant also gets water supply from Chargaon Dam.
