Officer Abhay who was having a seven-year stint with the CBI in the past apart from heading the crime branch and special branch of the Odisha Police has taken charge as the new Chief of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Abhay is 1986-batch police officer of Odisha cadre and has been appointed as the new chief of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

Abhay, before being appointed to this post, has been working in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as an Additional DG. His appointment to this post has been recently approved by the Prime Minister and the Appointment Committee of the cabinet and he will be posted on this position till 18th November 2019 as per the stint in central deputation.
