Governor Dr. S.C. Jamir inaugurated the National Handloom Expo-2018 at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhuvaneshwar,Odisha on Monday.
The exhibition is organized by the Odisha State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society Ltd (Boyanika) and sponsored by Development Commissioner for Handloom, Government of India.
As many as 200 stalls have been put by the participants of 22 states including Odisha.
This year Odisha, India has been selected for the National Handloom Expo (NHE). The Governor Dr. S.C. Jamir inaugurated the event at the IDCO Exhibition Ground, Bhubaneswar on January 29, 2018. The event is organized by the Odisha State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society Ltd (Boyanika) and sponsored by Development Commissioner of Handloom, Govt of India. A Total of 200 stalls have been set up. A number of 22 states in all are participating in the event. This huge event will be continued till 11 February.
The major aim of the National Handloom Expo is to display handloom products of different states of India and with that it would thrive to promote the prosperous Indian heritage and culture. It would also give opportunity to the weavers to build network with customers and handloom importers from other states The Expo is a better chance for the handloom exporters to expand their market further.
The expo will showcase a wide variety of dress materials, sarees, jumpsuits, trousers, palazzos, quilted tops, crinoline skirts, jackets, boleros, stoles, crop tops for various occasions for women and for men they have pants, trousers and shirts. These all have been a huge hit in the event.
