In his entire carrier, he has won 82 medals of which 65 were gold, 14 silver, and 3 bronze.In the Beijing Olympics which were held in 2008, he broke the record of seven first-place finishes at any single Olympic Games which has been set by his fellow American swimmer Mark Spitz in the year 1972.
