Kasganj, more than 200 km from Delhi, is a region in western Uttar Pradesh, which was made by partitioning Etah locale on April 17, 2008. It outskirts Farrukhabad in the east, Aligarh in the west, Utah region in the north and Badaun in the south. The lethargic town of Kasganj, which has around 20% Muslim populace, for the most part poor, has had no history of collective conflicts.

Representative Ram Naik depicted the brutality as a "smudge" on the State and said the "despicable" occurrence was the first of its kind since the BJP entered office in April a year ago.
