"Blue whale"

Blue whales are the largest sea animal in the whole world. Blue whale weights around 100 to 150 tons and they grow up to 100 feet’s. Blue whales are kind of baleen whale and are also known as “Rorqual”. Blue whales are in beautiful gray-blue color and have a mottling of a light spot on their body.

They eat up to 2 to 4 tons of krill per day in their feeding season. These whales are mostly found in the world’s ocean and while going through the internet I found one disheartening fact that there is a major decline in the ratio of their population.

As there are 10 to 15 thousand estimated whales are been left. The primary reason for the decline in the ratio of the population was the invention of the grenade-tipped harpoon in the late 1800's, blue whales were subjected to relentless hunting. Well in the year 1966 these special species were given special protection by the International Whaling Commission as they banned the blue whale hunting.
