This law came into existence since 21 October 1998 by the U.S Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act. Administered by the Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services is a federal law which provides security and protection to female patients who choose to have breast reconstruction in connection with a mastectomy.

What is the Womens Health and Cancer Rights Act WHCRA

So if someone has applied to Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act she must be provided the coverage for the following things:

  • Each and every stage of reconstruction of the breast in which the mastectomy has been done
  • Reconstruction and surgery of the breast to produce symmetrical appearance
  • Treatment and Prostheses of physical complication in all stages of mastectomy which also includes lymphedema.
