Hambantota Port!
Sri Lanka on 9th of December 2017, formally gave over the vital southern Port of Hambantota to China on a 99-year rent, in an arrangement named by the trade unions and oppositions as "a sell-out."
The Government's concede of extensive tax concessions to Chinese firms have likewise been interrogated by the Opposition.
Two Chinese firms, Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG) and Hambantota International Port Services (HIPS) were overseen by the China Merchants Port Holdings Company (CMPort) and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority will claim the port and the speculation zone around it, quoted by the authorities.
