Who is called the Flying Sikh of India?Former Indian track runner and sprinter Milkha Singh are renowned as the Flying Singh of India. Until Krishna Poonia won the gold medal in commonwealth games in the year 2010 in discuss Milkha Singh was the only Indian athlete to win a gold medal in commonwealth games.  

Milkha Singh led Indian in the 1956 Olympics which was held in Melbourne and consecutive Olympics which were held in 1960 and 1964. Milkha Singh has also been awarded the India's fourth-highest civilian honor Padma Shri. His final race in the finals of 1960 Rome Olympics was the most controversial and the most remembered race.


Well, the title “The Flying Singh” was given by General Ayub when Milkha Singh was defeated Abdul Khaliq in 200m race.

Milkha Singh defeated the Fastest Pakistani runner Abdul Khaliq who had won a 100m Gold Medal at Tokyo Asian Games 1958 in the year 1962. After the race, General Ayub came up to him and said: "Milkha, you did not run, you flew." And that's how he got the title The Flying Sikh.
