Indian national squad has saved the trophy at the Hockey World League (HWL-2017) tournament by defeating  Germany within the final by 2-1 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha on Gregorian calendar month eleven, 2017 and managed to win the bronze medal. Indian players took the lead in the twenty-first minute through SV Sunil. Germany equal through its reserve shielder Mark Appel within the thirty-sixth minute.

As Harmanpreet Singh shot the penalty corner within the 54th minute the match got sealed for our nation and by winning this match our India managed to hold the 3rd place in the world hockey ranking.
