7 + -1x = 49 + -1x

Add 'x' to each side of the equation.

7 + -1x + x = 49 + -1x + x

Combine like terms: -1x + x = 0

7 + 0 = 49 + -1x + x

7 = 49 + -1x + x

Combine like terms: -1x + x = 0

7 = 49 + 0

7 = 49

7 = 49
