Tehri dam located in Uttarakhand, India ranks on top of the list highest power-generating dam in India. Tehri Dam & HPP (1000 MW) includes a 260.5 M high Earth & Rockfill dam that is one of the best dams of its kind within the world, a waste weir System designed for PMF of 15540 cumecs and a drop of 220m, having one Chute waste weir and 4 Shaft Spillways And an underground Power House housing four Turbine/ Generator sets of 250 MW every, designed to work with a head variation of 90m.

The increase in demand for water is the prime reason of building a number of dams all across the country. However, in our country along with the new dam government is also renovating new dams as well.
