ASoftware is nothing but collection of programs.To get any work done from a computer, the computer program written instructions is called software.

Software is a program that has codes of numbers of lines. The software is designed to complete a particular task. We can touch the hardware, but we can't physically touch the software.

The main function of the software is to process the given data and provide work information. We need different software to run computers. Hardware is managed through the software. The hardware part is of no value if there is no software.

1. System Software - System software is a collection of programs designed to operate on computers that control computers. These softwares are made by a computer manufacturer.

The best example of the system software is the Operating system. The operating system must be installed to run the computer. The operating system works as a bridge between both hardware and software.

2. Application Software - This is a software that we use in our daily life. Like if we have to write something , make notes, write letters then we use MS-Word software. If we have to prepare the information, salary, report of the employee working in the company, then we take help of MS-Excel software. For image editing, we use Adobe Photoshop, which is also an application software.

Applicaion softwares have been made to work differently. the application software is designed according to user's requirement.

Examples of system software: MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Coral Draw, PageMaker, KM Player, VLC Media Player etc.

The mobile or computer browser that you are using the Internet is also a software.

The Micro-processor which is available in the computer, processes the instructions given in software and performs the selected tasks. Computer users do their work through computer by choosing the options available in the software.
