Emil Jannings was the first actor who got the award for the best actor and Janet Gaynor was awarded Oscar as the best actress. Emil was born on 23 July 1884, he was theatre actor and later became a renowned personality of the film world. Emil was German actor and got fame in Hollywood industry in the year 1920, he is the only German actor who has won  Oscar award. 

The first Oscar was held in Hollywood on 16 may, 1929. At that, there was no broadcasting done and the invited guest was also very limited as there were only 270 guests present there.
